Tell Legislators to VOTE NO on any increased tax on groceries.

In the coming days, as the House and Senate will consider several proposed tax increases that will only compound the cost of everything from groceries and housing to health care and fuel. 

 

Urge lawmakers to reconsider such proposals as an additional 1% B&O surcharge, which would increase costs for consumers in Washington at a time many of our families are already struggling to pay monthly bills and groceries. Due to the pyramid structure of the tax, all businesses supporting Washington’s grocery retailers, including small- and medium-sized businesses, will be heavily impacted by this proposed tax. 

In the coming days, the House and Senate will consider several proposed tax increases that will only compound the cost of everything from groceries and housing to health care and fuel. The tax policies now before the Legislature have unintended consequences, and we are wary of what those consequences might mean for Washington state both now and into the foreseeable future.

This will have a profound impact on the state’s small- and medium-sized businesses, many of which are family-owned and felt most by consumers in the form of higher prices.
